I just installed this plugin and tried to insert a calendar on a site. But it's not displayed. I only see the contactform part, above it only says "Kalender wird geladen..." (calendar is loading). Same result in both Firefox and Chrome.
Do you have any idea what to check or how to fix it?

Probably you are have some JavaScript error at that page. Please recheck your page for the any JavaScript errors and try to fix them.

If you are still will have this issue, please try to deactivate one by one your active plugins and recheck if its help or not. If its not help, please try to deactivate the actual theme and activate the default wordpress theme. Need to find the reason why the calendar is not showing.

You system looks great - in most aspects, but i need the calendar time slot picker to show hourly time slots per day, so the customer can pick 1, 2 or 3 time slots for a specific day and book those. Can the booking calendar show that?

The ability to book for the specific times only possible in the Booking Calendar Business Small / Business Medium versions (and in higher versions for booking resources with capacity =1). Please note if you will make the booking for the specific timeslot, this timeslot become unavailable for the other visitors for that selected date in current specific calendar.
You can configure the timeslots selections on the Booking > Settings > Fields page. Please use the "shortcode generator" on the right side of that page for the correct generation of the shortcode.
You can use one"timerange" (timeslots) or "start time" and"end time" selections or "starttime" and "duration" of time selections shortcodes or even start time and end time entering shortcodes. Please read more about the booking form fields configuration here https://wpbookingcalendar.com/help/booking-form-fields/
You can test the bookings for the specific time-slots in action on the live demo of Business Small version (which is configured by default for the bookings of specific time-slots) here: https://bs.wpbookingcalendar.com/ Other live demo you will need to reconfigure.

because it cost time to cancel the booking and then make a new booking.

conclusion i can not change visitors amount in second of more bookings on the same day.

Yes, you are right.
During the editing of the exist booking, which is belong to the “child” booking resource(s), this child booking resource is auto selected in the booking form. And during the submitting the booking form the availability is checking for this single “child” resource and not the parent, thats why the error is appear. We will add this issue to the todo list for the fixing it in future updates.
Right now, if you need to change the visitors selections for the specific booking, which is belong to the resource with specific capacity, you are need to cancel this booking and create the new booking then.

I raised the issue that added this feature to latest version. I have used latest version and to continue to work around the conflict I have with another pluggin. I have one issue I discovered which is the cancellation, modification page that is emailed to users to cancel or change a booking which I have listed the page url in the advanced section. does not appear to work.
When I click the cancel button nothing happens and developer tools shows bookingcancelbyvisitor is not defined (onclick)
Ability to load JS and CSS files only on specific pages. Its useful, if exist some conflict(s) or you want to optimize loading of website, and you need to load Booking Calendar JS and CSS files only at the specific pages, where you are having booking forms or availability calendars. You can activate and configure this feature at the General Booking Settings page in Advanced section, by expanding “Advanced settings of JavaScript loading”.
Probably you just do not have correct page with [bookingedit] shortcode and do not save link to this page at the General Booking Settings page.

You installed plugin "wp-booking-calendar", its not the original "Booking Calendar" plugin.
Its some other plugin developed by someone else, that use plugin name, and thats why you do not see booking form at the page.
You can download the free version of original "Booking Calendar" (developed by wpdevelop) plugin and install from WordPress directory: https://wordpress.org/plugins/booking/
Then you be able to activate "Booking Calendar" (developed by wpdevelop) and use it.

how do I remove some form fields. I just would like one field for full name, email and comments. short forms work better than longer ones. thank you for your assistance.

You can remove form fields at the Booking > Settings > Fields page in your admin panel.
In the Booking Calendar free version you can just deactivate specific form field.
And in the Booking Calendar paid versions you can remove the form field shortcode from the booking form to not show some fields in the booking form.

I am a new user trying to figure if I want to keep this plugin for my site, so right now I am using the free version.
I want to know how (whether in setting or direct editing of the css) to put the calendar and the form that the user fills out side by side. Right now, the calendar is on top of the form, making the section of the page very long. I think that's good for a widget in sidebar, but not really good for our current page.
Related to that- are there short codes for the calendar and the form (separately) so that I can play with the layout?

The Booking Calendar free version support only one layout of the booking form.
In any paid version of Booking Calendar possible to configure easily structure of the booking form at the Booking > Settings > Fields page.
Its even exist special "default template", where calendar at the left side and the form fields at the right side.

1) You can change the "payment status" of specific booking at the Booking Listing page by using the special button near each specific booking.
2) If you are using PayPal, then you can activate IPN functionality to notify Booking Calendar about the payment status (is it paid or not - but its not update status about the "partially paid") of the specific booking.
Description about Auto Approval functionality for specific booking. You can configure the "auto approve" of the booking, if the payment was successful, if you need this functionality.
Please note, during this configuration you need to have active IPN at your PayPal account (please contact the the support of PayPal if you will have the questions about it). Also instructions about it you can find at the Booking > Settings > Payment page at the PayPal > IPN section.
You can activate the "auto approval of successfully paid bookings at the Booking > Settings > Payment page at the PayPal section. Please configure and activate the IPN settings at the Booking > Settings > Payment page at the PayPal section.
Please note, the successfully paid status for the specific booking will apply, only if visitor click on the "return to your website" link on the PayPal website, or if you will configure the paypal IPN in the Booking > Settings > Payment > Paypal page and in your paypal account (if you are using paypal as payment system). Otherwise the Booking Calendar will not know about the payment status of the booking, until you manually change it (payment status) or approve the booking.
