  This functionality is available at the Booking Calendar Hotel Edition version. At this version is possible to make several reservations per specific FULL date(s) by visitors (not time slots). Here is possible to set capacity of the booking resource, so date(s) in calendar will be available untill number of reservations is less then capacity of the booking resource.

  You will need to insert booking shortcode into the invisible div, something like this:
  
  <div id="bookinhpopup" style="display:none;"> [booking ....other parameters of this shortcode...] </div>
  
  Then you need to use jQuery to open the content of this div as popup.

But please note, at this version ,when some visitor is make reservation for specific time, this time become unavailable for other visitors at that selected date.

That would be a great feature, because most people at hotels make only one reservation for the whole group. So if there are 16 persons, and only one person makes the booking, he will ask for one reservation for 16 adults on the same period but 8 rooms (2 person at a room for ex.)

      its will work only if you are create the "parent resource" for this type of room and then increase the capacity of this resource, by adding new "child resources".
      After this you need to set the maximum number of visitors to this parent room as 2, so then its will work as in your description.
      But its not possible manually to define how many persons have to be in one room and how many in other, the system is get by default maximum supported number.
      I will add this item to todo list to have some similar future in some future updates.
